December 15-19

It's here!!!! The last week of school! Last week we had the Christmas concert, the group did a fantastic job with their song. It was lots fun. Thanks to all the parents who dropped of some treats. The students greatly appreciated them.

This week we will be trying to wrap up our mini geometry unit and do a revision of the speller words that we had so far. We will be having a fifty word spelling test. Don't stress about this test, this is just a way for me to evaluate whether the students are retaining the words that they have been learning. If they are not retaining most of the words, then I try a different approach to speller after Christmas.

The class has discussed having a class party on Friday. If you feel like sending in some treats for this day, it would be appreciated, however it is not obligatory to send something in. I know some parents have already sent in treats and I know how busy it is for everyone at this time of year.

I also wanted to let you all know what a great class I have. I feel very honoured to be teaching them. I often say that I feel as though they are the one's teaching me. They are an amazing group. I hope you all have a great Christmas break!

Best Holiday Wishes, Mme Gallant

P.S. I will not be posting the spelling words for this week (too many). It is a revision, you should have all of the words at home already. They are also in the back of the homework duotang. If by any chance you don't have them, write a note in your child's agenda book and I will send them home that night.

December 1-5

December is here!!!! Tomorrow we will be heading to the Wyatt Heritage Properties between 9:oo and 11:30, we are all very excited. Other teachers who have went told me that it is fun and interesting. This week we will be having a math test. I cancelled the test last week because, the students were struggling with the last concept that was being taught. They will probably have a math review sheet to do sometime during the week.

The Christmas concert will be held on the 11th. The students have been practicing a song called "un bon chocolat chaud". The students will be doing actions with the lyrics of the song. The three grade three classes will be doing the song together. We are doing the banjo section of the song. For this we are asking you to look around the house to see if you have any straw hats, overall, banjos (toy or real). The students should be dressed in jeans and plaid shirts for their costumes. Hopefully most of you have some of these items kicking around the house. If you can contribute to lending us one of these props, please write a note in your child's agenda saying what you can contribute.

Other than that all is well. I was informed that I will be also here for the month of January. After that we will see. I will keep you all posted on what is happening as soon as I find out. Thanks for all your patience during this process.

November 24-28

This week is a four day week. There will be a professional development day on Friday, therefor there will be no school for the students. This week students will have a test on Friday that will be covering chapter 1 in Math. We will also be having our speller test on Thursday since there is no school on Friday. Scholastic book orders are to be returned by November 27th. I will be placing the order after school. Our visit to the Wyatt Heritage Properties will be on the morning of December 2nd. Thank you to those who have agreed to help supervise, this service is very much appreciated. Also, thank you to those who have agreed to volunteer in the future, I know that all parents would love to do this but with some work situations it makes it difficult.

Things are going well! The class seems to progressing at a good pace. They really are a great group of students!!!!

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I hope to use this as another avenue to make communication with parents easier and more efficient. I will be posting information about what will be taking place in the class in addition to any announcements or information that needs to be noted. This is an exciting way to to get information out to parents. I will be posting new information each Monday. Keep checking the site through out the week, but Monday will be the main day for postings.
